Migration Kit for Windows 7 – the quickest way to the new Windows (for up to 3 computers)
See how easy it is to migrate from Windows Vista or XP to the new Windows 7! The Migration Kit for Windows 7 is the perfect and only tool that provides you with a quick and economical way to switch over to the new Windows 7!
Migrating to Windows 7 can be difficult. The in-place upgrade from Microsoft will give you the option of changing from Windows Vista to Windows 7 without losing your user defined settings, data, and applications, but it comes with a number of provisions. Your old system and Windows 7 have to have the same bit version (32 or 64). Especially tricky is the requirement that an upgrade to a particular edition of Windows 7 can only be done from a few selected Windows Vista Editions. The in-place upgrade from Windows Vista Home Premium, for example, to Windows 7 Professional is just not possible. Windows XP users have it even more difficult: Microsoft offers them no technical possibility to upgrade from a Windows XP installation to Windows 7. A Windows XP user is legally entitled to an upgrade when purchasing a Windows 7 license, but he or she will not be able to transfer any settings, programs, or data (with Clean Install).

Steps in operating system migration (migration steps)
A migration to a new operating system occurs in a series of steps: data, settings, and applications/games migration. If you’re only interested in taking personal data (e.g., office documents, photos, videos, etc), this can be done using imaging programs such as O&O DiskImage. The migration of settings from the old operating system using Easy Transfer, a component of Microsoft Windows, can be accomplished to only a limited extent. A complete transfer of user accounts and personal settings is only possible with the Migration Kit for Windows 7. Laplink Pcmover, the program contained in the Kit, carries out the last phase of migration: migration of all applications and games*.
Migration on the same or between two different computers
Migration Kit for Windows 7 was designed for users wanting to install the new Windows 7 on his old computer as well as for the customer purchasing a new computer with Windows 7, and who wants to transfer onto it data, applications, and settings from the old one. The Migration Kit for Windows 7 supports all variations of the migration within one or between two systems, and of course, the migration from Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 Beta/RC to the final version of Windows 7.
